Jannik Sinner: Andy Roddick shaken admits error

Andy Roddick is one of many insiders who did not believe Jannik Sinner would bounce back immediately after his heavy defeat in the Roland Garros final against Carlos Alcaraz. Indeed, the’former world number one predicted a Djokovic-Alcaraz final at Wimbledon, with the’Blue eliminated in the semifinals.
Sinner instead triumphed in London, and at his podcast “Served with Andy Roddick” the’former U.S. champion admitted his mistake: “When I make a mistake I am the first to say it. I never thought the match would go Sinner’s way on this surface”.
“Sinner played an amazing match tactically, he was hitting longline when he had the opportunity, he was dominating from the center of the court. He could only do one thing: give rhythm and speed to the match, and he did it without needing variations and rotations, where we know Alcaraz is a master”, explained the American.

Roddich then went deeper into the’analysis: “He did an incredible job hitting longline from the backcourt when there was space with his backhand. When he broke in the fourth set, he did it with two backhands that are probably the best you will ever see. Alcaraz hit a forehand and then moved to the left because that’s where any normal person would have gone. And instead Sinner pulled off a winning backhand longline against the fastest guy on the planet”.
