John McEnroe is thrilled after the Wimbledon final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, won by the Blue in four sets. The two current leaders of the tennis movement set off another extraordinary chapter in their rivalry, still in its infancy given their young age.

“This victory by Sinner over Alcaraz raises the level of this rivalry even higher – assured McEnroe -. None of the other tennis players are at the level of these two guys right now, and this is the real challenge for the rest of men”s tennis.

“The others can grow and catch up, but they will have to work very hard to get closer to this goal, because these guys will certainly not sit on their hands, considering their work ethic and their desire to win” are his words to the BBC.

“I would say that Jannik watches more matches of Carlos than anyone else – noted Sinner’s coach Darren Cahill after the Blue’s victory in London – because he is fascinated by the improvements that are happening in his game. So the rivalry is real, they improve each other. And I hope that this rivalry will continue to exist and be on for the next 10 or 12 years”.
