Jannik Sinner, Maria Sharapova’s funny tribute drives fans crazy

Jannik Sinner’s feat at Wimbledon continues to make noise and arouse reactions even more than twenty’four hours later. The setting, inevitably, is the world of social networks, within which it is not only fans who extol the exploits of the Italian champion, but also tennis insiders and legends: among the latter, Maria Sharapova’s tribute stands out for its irony.
The latter is the one that has been the subject of the article.
In a post published on her official X profile, the former Russian tennis player shared an old video in which, paired with the current world No. 1, she engages in a Christmas song in which the desire to have fun certainly emerges more than the singing skills of both. “It’s only right to bring this post back to the top of the feed” wrote Sharapova, who had also posted the same video after sinner’s first Slam victory, that at the Australian Open in 2024. Between comments and likes, the post sent fans into a frenzy, already garnering a large number of reactions within minutes of publication.
A 1987-year-old Maria Sharapova was one of the strongest tennis players of her generation: in her career she won five Grand Slam tournaments (Wimbledon 2004, US Open 2006, Australian Open 2008, Roland Garros 2012 and 2014), as well as the 2004 WTA Finals. He also boasts one Olympic silver medal, won in London in 2012, as well as one win (2008) and two runner-up finishes (2011 and 2015) with the Russian team in the Fed Cup.
At Wimbledon, Sinner won his fourth Grand Slam tournament, after winning the 2024 Australian Open and US Open and confirming success in Australia in 2025 as well. He has led the ATP rankings since early June 2024, a lead he has yet to lose more than a year later and indeed has strengthened since the London slam.
