While on the one hand it is still time to celebrate his splendid success at Wimbledon, on the other hand fans and insiders are beginning to wonder what the future holds for Jannik Sinner, particularly after Darren Cahill, as announced in recent weeks, will step aside and abandon his role as “supercoach”.

Among the papabili, the name of Ivan Ljubicic has emerged in recent days, who after a brilliant professional career that also saw him in the Top 3 rankings has been the coach of several top athletes, above all Roger Federer, whom he followed in the last years of his career, from 2016 to 2022. Interviewed on the subject by the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger, Ljubicic displaced everyone with a message that opens up interesting future scenarios.

“For the time being, I have an assignment that binds me to the French Federation – explained ‘Ljubo’ -But when a player like Jannik Sinner knocks on the door, you have to at least consider the possibility, a little bit’ as happened with Roger Federer. Someday I will return to coaching a player: when? That I do not know”.

In the context of Grand Slam tournaments, his best achievement is the semifinal at Roland Garros in 2006 (defeat against Rafa Nadal, later winner). As Federer’s coach, he helped him win the Australian Open twice (2017 and 2018) and Wimbledon once (2017).
