Bashing Argentina’s Juan Martin Cerundolo in three sets after two hours and seven minutes of play, Alexander Bublik won for the first time in his career the Gstaad tournament, ATP 250 among the most prestigious on the circuit (the first edition dates back to 1915). Bublik succeeds Matteo Berrettini, who had won the tournament on the Swiss resort’s clay in 2024.

After immediately recovering a break disadvantage, Bublik won the first set by emerging at a distance, winning the 10th game on his opponent&#8217s serve and closing on 6-4. Cerundolo, however, never got out of the match and evened the score in the second frazioen, taking advantage of a few smudges on the Kazakh&#8217s part.

Having overcome the difficult moment, Bublik took back the match in the third and decisive set, finding the decisive stretch in the sixth game with the break that was worth the momentary 4-2. From there on, the current number 34 in the rankings did not tremble anymore and was indeed good at managing until the final 6-4, which allowed him to raise his arms to the sky and collect the applause of the fans.

The one won in Gstaad is Alexander Bublik&#8217s sixth career title, his second in 2025 after his unexpected victory in Halle in late June (a success that came after beating Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, among others). He previously won in Montpellier in 2022 and 2024, as well as a first in Halle and Antwerp in 2023.
