Hopman Cup Final: Lucia Bronzetti beaten by Bianca Andreescu, Canada ahead of'Italy

Lucia Bronzetti, world number 64, was decisively beaten by Bianca Andreescu, number 185 but who in 2019 was the US Open champion and number 4 in the WTA ranking, with the score of 6-2 6-3 in one hour and 20 minutes of play in the women’s singles of the Hopman Cup final between Italy and Canada at the Fiera del Levante in Bari.
Four breaks in the first five games of the match and unfortunately three of these were suffered by Lucia, who found herself down 5-1 despite also having had break points in all the first three games on the North American’s serve, who, however, at the moment of closing did not concede anything to the Romagnola.
Simple break in favor of Andreescu also in the first game of the second set. Bianca’s break lead became two in the seventh game. At 5-2 the Canadian serves for the match but Bronzetti manages to shorten the distance, however in the next game she loses the serve for the sixth time out of nine service games and also the match.
Next will be the men’s singles match between Flavio Cobolli, world number 19, and Felix Auger Aliassime, who was number 6 at the end of 2022 and is now number 28.
