Jannik Sinner: Taylor Fritz vents after Azure decision

Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will all miss the Toronto tournament, the first major competition since Wimbledon. The Canadian Open has been extended to 12 days instead of seven, and has a prize pool of $1.1 million, but the players have decided to extend their rest period ahead of the second half of the year, starting with the US Open.
Taylor Fritz, at a press conference in Washington, pointed to the calendar changes: “It’s crazy to keep adding tournaments”.
“I mean, probably all the players have long been asking for the season to be shorter, but all we are doing is lengthening it, adding more things, adding longer tournaments. For example, the Hopman Cup was held right after Wimbledon-that’s crazy. We are simply adding things to the calendar, continuously”.

All the top ATP-ranked tennis players will most likely return to Cincinnati, to prepare for the Us Open, which kicks off in late August.
