Eurobasket, Italy's gathering begins in Trieste

The Azzurri gathering in Trieste has begun, the second period of approach to EuroBasket 2025, the European Championship that Italy will start from the island of Cyprus on August 28.

After two days of rest, coach Gianmarco Pozzecco will reunite 13 Azzurri (Bortolani and Caruso cleared to leave the gathering after Trento) and await the arrival of Darius Thompson scheduled for tomorrow, Aug. 7.

Practices at PalaTrieste on Thursday, Aug. 7, and Friday, Aug. 8, will be open-door. Saturday, Aug. 9, will be the third of six summer friendlies against coach Luca Banchi’s Latvia at PalaTrieste. The last friendly in Italy, however, will be Aug. 14 in Bologna against Argentina.

Both games will be live on Sky Sport Basket (channel 209). This will be followed by the Acropolis Tournament against Latvia (Aug. 21, 7:15 p.m. Italian time) and Greece (Aug. 22, 7:15 p.m. Italian time).
