US Open, record-breaking prize money

The US Open has yet to begin, but it is already record-breaking. In fact, the U.S. Slam has announced the prize money for the tournament, which will be played on the concrete courts of Flushing Meadows from Aug. 24 to Sept. 7 and will be the richest in history, with 90 million total put up for players (compared to 75 in last year’s edition, which was already the highest figure ever and a 20 percent increase).
Men’s and women’s singles champions will take home $5 million each, up 39 percent from $3.6 million in 2024, the highest prize in the sport. The finalists will pocket two and a half million, the semifinalists 1.26: the quarterfinals will yield $660,000, while the eighth rounds are worth $400,000, with substantial growth for all.
Men’s and women’s doubles prize money also increased 23 percent to $4.78 million from $3.89 million in 2024. For the first time ever, the winning teams of the men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles tournaments will receive 1 million.
In addition to the prize money, as in recent years, the U.S. Open seeks to reduce the expenses of players, who will receive a travel expense reimbursement of $1,000, as well as two hotel rooms in the official hotel (alternatively $600 per day if the player chooses another facility).
