Olimpia Milano, dry retort to Luka Doncic’s jibe.

With a note released through its official channels on Friday, Olimpia Milano indirectly responded to the words of Luka Doncic, who in a recent interview had wondered why Slovenia could not count on Josh Nebo and Vlatko Cancar, both on the red and white roster, for EuroBasket 2025.
“With regard to what has been reported in the media in recent days, I would like to clarify on behalf of the club that the health of the players has always been and always will be our priority – explained Christos Stavropoulos, general manager of Olimpia Milano – In the specific case of Vlatko Cancar and Josh Nebo, I recall that the two players are coming back from very serious injuries that severely limited their employment in the last season”.
“D’agreement with them has been launched a procedure for their resumption of activity, which will have to take place gradually precisely to preserve their health and competitiveness in the long term” added the red-and-white executive, firmly rejecting the words of Doncic who, instead, had spoken of a “brake by the club to which they belong”.
The names of Nebo and Cancar appeared on the call-up list for the Slovenian national team retreat released last July 7, but the two Olimpia players were forced to forfeit due to physical problems. The final national team list will include 12 players per team: barring any sensational twists and turns Luka Doncic will be the undisputed leader of Slovenia.
