Wout Van Aert forgoes World and European Championships

Wout Van Aert will not participate in the World Championships (Sept. 21-28) or the European Championships (Oct. 1-5). This was announced by his team, Visma-Lease a Bike, announcing that for iL the 30-year-old Belgian’s final season schedule.
So far this year, Van Aert has raced, in addition to the Classics (fourth in both the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix), the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France, winning a stage in each of the two big races, his only victories in 2025, in Siena, on the Strade Bianche dirt roads, and on the Champs-Élysées in Paris after pulling away from everyone in Montmartre.
In the second part of the season, the Flemish rider from Herentals will compete in the Tour of Germany, a stage race from Aug. 20-24, and a number of one-day races: the Bretagne Classic, the Gp of Quebec and Montreal, and finally the Super 8 Classic, in Belgium, on Sept. 20.
“It’s been a great year, with important goals coming up fast – commented Van Aert. “The Spring Classics and the Tour were my main goals. I am also happy to have finally been able to experience the Giro’s experience. After such a busy season, it is crucial not to overdo it. That is why we decided to end my season after the Super 8 Classic and skip both the World and European Championships”.
