Excellent start for Luciano Darderi at the US Open 2025: the Italo-Argentinian tennis player, number 32 in the seeding, beat Australian Rinky Hijikata in three sets with a peremptory 6-2 6-1 6-2 without argument. L’Azzurro closed the file in just one hour and 24 minutes, showing himself very solid and taking advantage of the many errors of his opponent, who never entered the match.

Darderi is on his first success on concrete in a Slam: in the next round he will face the winner of the match between two American wild cards, Eliot Spizzirri and Stefan Dostanic.

In contrast, Lucia Bronzetti was immediately eliminated from the women&#8217s draw. The Azzurra was surprisingly defeated in three sets by 18-year-old qualifier Tereza Valentova: the Czech won in three sets and in just over two hours with a score of 6-3 3-6 6-4.

A disappointment for Bronzetti, who in 2024 was eliminated in the second round by future champion Aryna Sabalenka.
