Jannik Sinner lived up to the predictions and overwhelmed Czech Vit Kopriva in three sets in the first round of the US Open 2025. L’Azzurro, who won 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, filed the debut in one hour and 40 minutes and after the match was quite satisfied with his performance.
“There are some things to improve if we want to move forward in this tournament, but it went well – he said in the post-match interview.
If I asked the coaches to go to practice after the match? Yes but Simone Vagnozzi said no, he is the boss”.
On feelings for the tournament: “Every year is different, now we are very much on the ball and see how it goes”.
Sinner also explained why he applied a patch to his right hand. “It’s just a blister, nothing to worry about…”.
