Thanks to his triumph at the Us Open in the final against Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz has returned to the top of the ATP rankings after more than two and a half years. The Murcian surpassed the very Blue, who abdicated after 455 days and 65 weeks at the top of the world rankings.

Now Alcaraz sits atop the ATP ranking with 11540 points, 760 more than his arch-rival who trails at 10,780. Between the two finalists of the last 3 Grand Slam tournaments and the others there&#8217s a furrow: suffice it to say that Alexander Zverev, third, has ‘only’5,930 points.

The’South Tyrolean is already studying the ’counter-overtaking operation, which, however, could come months from now. Sinner, in fact, has many more points to defend than Alcaraz between now and the end of the season: the Wimbledon champion defends an impressive 2,830, the result of last year&#8217s victories at the Shanghai Masters 1000 and ATP Finals, as well as the final he reached at the Beijing ATP 500.

The Spaniard, on the other hand, has 2,830 points to defend.

The Spaniard, on the other hand, has only 1,000 points to defend: the feeling is that if he maintains the level shown in recent months it will be virtually impossible for Jannik to overtake him. And things don’t get any better looking ahead to the upcoming Australian Open where Sinner is defending the 2,000 points of the title he won while Alcaraz only 400, having been eliminated in the quarterfinals.
