From almost certain starter and derby hero, Lorenzo Pellegrini is having a decidedly peculiar season: Gian Piero Gasperini, on the eve of the league match against Hellas Verona scheduled for Sunday, returned to talk about the 1996-born player, once again displacing reporters who asked him for an opinion on his future.

“He gave a very important response in the derby, beyond the goal scored – said the coach from this year’in the capital after a long experience at Atalanta -. However, if we think that all the problems have been solved then we are wrong. He has to make his own path, find character and personality: these are characteristics that he does not lack, but he has to confirm them”.

Pellegrini, who was born in Rome and grew up at the Giallorossi club, where he played in almost all of his senior seasons (except for two years at Sassuolo between 2015 and 2017), has a contract expiring in June 2026 and has not yet reached an agreement for renewal. It is not ruled out, despite the good period he is experiencing, to keep negotiations open for a possible sale as early as January, to avoid losing the player at parameter zero.

The player has not yet been signed.

In the meantime, however, Pellegrini himself remains in the plans of ‘Gasp’ given Paulo Dybala’s cntinuous absence and the decline in the form of the alternatives: against Hellas Verona, the 29-year-old will be on the field barring surprises in the 3-4-2-1 of the Grugliasco coach, who is intent on flanking him with Soulè at the level of the three quarters, supporting Ferguson’s only striker.
