Charles Leclerc realizes that his experience at Ferrari may be nearing the turning point, which at this point could turn out to be positive but also negative. And with the 2025 season nearing its conclusion without having yet brought any joys to the Monegasque, his focus is already on 2026. That, however, will be a decisive year.

“Definitely these are the years when I feel best. I still feel young, but there&#8217s no doubt that these seasons are very important – Leclerc said in an interview for the ‘New York Times’ -It will be crucial to start the next season in the right way, from this point of view. I don&#8217t feel, however, that I&#8217m nearing the final stage of my career, I don”t have the feeling that decline will come soon”.

The idea that these words may be accompanied by the’idea of leaving Ferrari in case of a disappointing year even in 2026, however, is at least for the moment averted by Leclerc. “I feel grateful that I am here and can drive for the team I have always loved. Clearly I wish we could win more, but excluding that I feel very fast. I am very motivated toward the goal of turning the tables on McLaren, which we want to beat. Unfortunately, they have taken a much bigger step forward this year than anyone else”.

Over the next week Leclerc will celebrate his 28th birthday. And he is now a Ferrari veteran, as he has been driving for the Prancing Horse team since 2019 and is therefore in his seventh season in red. In all that time, however, he has won only eight victories, compared with no less than 27 pole positions. And, for a driver that everyone in the industry has been calling world title material for years, it is clear that the desire to sit on the Formula 1 throne is starting to become increasingly irresistible.
