Jasmine Paolini&#8217s run at the Wuhan WTA tournament ended in the semifinals. The Tuscan tennis player was outlasted in two sets 6-4, 6-3 by U.S. Coco Gauff, who qualified for the final of the Chinese tournament. The day after the stunning victory over Swiatek came a drastic drop in the Azzurra’s performance, especially in her serve performance, which penalized her for much of the match.

The world number 8 suffered three breaks in the first set, and four times in the second partial, in a match punctuated by the many errors of both tennis players.

Now Jasmine Paolini&#8217s goal in the coming weeks will be to secure a place in the WTA Finals: she is currently eighth in the Race ahead of Kazakhstan&#8217s Elena Rybakina.

Gauff instead flies to the finals, where she will face the winner of the challenge between Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula: Coco improved on her 2024 result, when she stopped in the semifinals of the Chinese tournament.
