Another bitter evening experienced by Fiorentina in this start of the championship: the Viola dreamed of their first success in Serie A 2025-2026 by taking the lead against Milan thanks to Gosens’ goal, only to suffer the comeback signed by Rafael Leao, who scored first at 63′ with a broadside from the distance and then at’86’ on a penalty kick.

It is precisely the decisive penalty that is in the sights of Stefano Pioli, who confirmed in a press conference that he does not regret the harsh objection to referee Marinelli: “I told him as well on the pitch, that is not a penalty – Pioli remarked -. These episodes are serious because they set precedents, it is enough to fall down and put your hands to your face after a slight contact to get a whistle in favor”.

“It also happens outside the’penalty area– the Fiorentina coach further explained -. Hands in the face? Whistle in favor. That&#8217s not good enough. If you then combine this with unfavorable episodes like the goal conceded when we were momentarily ten… It remains that we lost again and we are last: we must do better”.

Fibrentina, in seven league games, has collected just three points and is one of four teams, along with Hellas Verona, Genoa and Pisa, to have not yet celebrated a league success. The calendar now offers the Conference League trip to Vienna against Rapid, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23, and the derby of the Apennines with Bologna on Sunday, Oct. 26, before the dreaded midweek match with Inter scheduled at the San Siro on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
