Nicola Pietrangeli ruthless with Jannik Sinner over Davis Cup forfeit

Nicola Pietrangeli literally panned Jannik Sinner after the world No. 2 South Tyrolean forfeited the Davis Cup finals. Here are the words of the 92-year-old Italian tennis legend.
“It is a big slap in the face to the Italian sports world. I don’t understand when he talks about difficult choice, he has to play tennis mica make a war,” Pietrangeli told Ansa’Ansa by phone.
“When they touch me the Davis Cup I am craving because the purpose of a sportsman is to put on the blue jersey. But unfortunately I am talking about a’different era”.
“I hope that during Davis I don’t go to other engagements elsewhere…Today, the world is too money-driven and the heart is often put aside”.
Pietrangeli was the non-playing captain of the Italian team formed by Adriano Panatta, Corrado Barazzutti, Paolo Bertolucci and Tonino Zugarelli won the first Davis Cup of Italian tennis in Santiago, Chile in 1976.
