Novak Djokovic triumphs in Athens by beating Lorenzo Musetti in final

Novak Djokovic won the ATP 250 on the indoor concrete of Athens, his 101th triumph in major circuit tournaments, beating Lorenzo Musetti in the final with a score of 4-6 6-3 7-5, who thus remains out of the ATP Finals in Turin by only 5 points over Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, unless Djokovic himself decides to give a resounding forfeit putting the number 2 of Italy back in the game.
Only one break in the first set and he won it from Musetti at 1-1, going 0-40 on the former world number 1’s serve and snatching his serve at the third chance. The 23-year-old from Carrara also has a 4-1 ball, that is, the double break, he misses it but the first partial is his.
A single break also in the second set, in Nole’s favor, at 4-3. At 5-3 the Serb cancels a counterbreak ball and then evens the set count at the first opportunity.
The third set is the most tightly contested: Djokovic breaks at 1-1, then from 3-1 gets caught up at 3-3 suffering the counterbreak after a very long game, but immediately goes back ahead by a break in the next, equally long, seventh game
Djokovic serves for the match at 5-4 but Musetti breaks his serve at the second consecutive opportunity. But at 5-5 Lorenzo unfortunately relinquishes the serve at the fourth chance for his opponent who then closes the score by holding serve after 2 hours and 59 minutes of play.
