The first break points came in the sixth game and were in Sinner’s favor, but the North American cancelled them, as well as cancelling another one on 5-4 that was also a set point. On 6-5 second set point missed by Sinner but on the third Auger-Aliassime puts a short ball into the back of the net.
The Canadian towards the end of the partial suffers a calf problem, takes a bathroom break and when he returns to the court Sinner flies to 3-0 with a break and then Auger-Aliassime takes advantage of the medical timeout.
But the match has no more history: Auger-Aliassime only holds serve in the fourth game after Sinner missed two 4-0 break points, but then Jannik strung three more consecutive games and with an ace closed the file after an hour and 40 minutes of play.
