Scandicci, tricky midweek round with Chieri

Midweek shift and great volleyball at the Pala BigMat in Florence, where tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12 at 8 p.m., the big match of the ninth round of Serie A1 between Savino Del Bene Volleyball and Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 will be staged.
Coach Marco Gaspari’s lineup, currently second in the standings, will host one of the league’s most in-form teams: Chieri, the fourth force in the standings and protagonist of an excellent start to the season with six wins in the first eight days.
Wednesday’s will be the 15th overall confrontation between the two teams. The previous record is in favor of Savino Del Bene Volleyball, which has won on twelve out of fourteen occasions. Savino Del Bene Volley’s last success dates back to February 15, 2025, when on the twenty-third day of the Regular Season of Serie A1 2024-2025, the Scandiccese lineup won at the Pala Asti in Turin 3-0. On that occasion Ekaterina Antropova was voted MVP thanks to a 21-point performance (3 aces and 1 winning wall) with 65% in attack.
“It is a big match on Wednesday, against a team that, in my opinion, is playing very effective volleyball – said coach Marco Gaspari -They are varying the game a lot, changing the bases often, so it will be quite unpredictable volleyball. Chieri, at this moment, has shown a lot of continuity and, against the bigs, has fought until the end: it did so with Conegliano and with Novara, although on those occasions their only two defeats of the season came. Therefore, we expect a team that will come to Pala BigMat with the desire to maintain its very high position in the standings, also in view of the Italian Cup. On our side, on the other hand, we want to continue to give continuity. We are up against a great team and, for us, the most important thing in this match will be to defend well, to have a lot of patience and, above all, when the time comes, to put in a little more cynicism. Otherwise, with Chieri, you run the risk of getting them excited. So it will be very important to be aggressive and patient”.
