MotoGp, Valencia test: Fabio Di Giannantonio goes beyond stopwatch response

Beyond the seventh best time overall in the MotoGp tests in Valencia, Fabio Di Giannantonio said he was fully satisfied with the work done on the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team Ducati: the gap to the best overall time, the 1:29.373 of Raul Fernandez on Aprilia Trackhouse, is 268 thousandths but it is on something else that the Roman rider preferred to focus in his analysis.

“It was a good day, we tried several things that Ducati brought here in Valencia – explained the 1998-class rider -. The feeling was good and it was very important to see that the work done by the factory is going in the right direction, especially in terms of expectations. It was important to provide feedback and we did everything that was on the agenda for the day”.

“In these tests it is always a bit tricky to get a good understanding because of the track conditions, but they are always very useful especially for the engineers to see if their study works on the track as well. That was the goal and we achieved it” added Di Giannantonio, just back from a double third place in Valencia, first in the Sprint and then in the Sunday race.

In his fourth year in MotoGp, his second as part of the team founded by Valentino Rossi, Fabio Di Giannantonio finished the championship in sixth place, improving on his 10th place finish from the previous year’s finish. The distance to the last rider in the Top 5, Pecco Bagnaia of the factory Ducati team, was 26 points at the end of the season (288 versus 262).
