Carlos Alcaraz, confession on Jannik Sinner: "Obsessed with each other"

Carlos Alcaraz gave a long interview to Marca in which he talked about his rivalry with Jannik Sinner to whom he lost in the final at the ATP Finals in Turin: “I think both Sinner and I are obsessed with each other. He has lost two or three matches in the last two years and most of them have been against me”.

“Jannik has to look and reflect on what he has to improve on to beat the player he has failed to defeat several times – added the world number one -It is logical and it is normal. I, on the other hand, have lost to more players, but my thought is to try to improve and do the necessary things so that, the next time we face each other, I will be a much better player”.

The Murcian, however, does not forget Novak Djokovic: “Years go by, but he is still there: he is number four in the world and has reached the semifinals in all the Grand Slam tournaments. He has the level and the motivation, because his physique allows him to do so, to continue to compete and stay at the highest level. It is true that, in recent years, both Jannik and I have been the ones who have been closest to him, along with others. But, mentally, mostly the two of us. It may be that we are moving to another generation”.

Carlitos had to give up Davis Cup due to injury: “I don&#8217t know if Davis Cup owes me anything, but one thing I am sure of: sooner or later the time will come. I would rather it be sooner than later, but someday it will happen. The only time I was able to see the Davis Cup live was in Valencia, in a Spain-Germany match. That was the only time I went as a spectator, with the historic match of David (Ferrer) against Kohlschreiber. It was an incredible moment”.

Closing on the possibility of playing until 38 like Djokovic and Nadal: “No, at the moment I don&#8217t see myself there. I prefer to proceed year after year to see how far my body can go. And, most importantly, if I still have the motivation and desire. I don’t think about whether I will make it to 33 or 38. I will take care of myself so that my career will be as long as possible”.
