Napoli market, Lorenzo Lucca may leave

Lorenzo Lucca is back on Nottingham Forest’s radar. The Premier League club, which already showed strong interest in him in March, is re-evaluating his profile ahead of the winter market.

The Napoli striker, at least for now, is not delivering the expected performance. The transition from a quiet reality like Udine to a first-tier context like Naples is weighing on him. He was not the club’s first choice, as Giovanni Manna had explored other options, with Gyokeres topping the list. In the end, for mainly economic reasons, the club decided to go for the Zebrette center forward, but faced with a convincing offer from England he could change his mind.

Already at the end of March Lucca’s name appeared in a list of targets shared by several clubs: Inter Milan, AC Milan, Napoli, where he later arrived, Atletico Madrid and precisely Nottingham Forest. English scouts had been following him for some time, impressed by his out-of-the-ordinary and steadily growing physical profile: 2 meters and 1 centimeter, imposing frame, good reading of situations and evident progress in playing on the sidelines and working for the team.

In the Premier League, where physical duels and high balls often decide a match, Lucca is seen as a suitable striker. Nottingham Forest, coming off a largely subpar start to the season, is looking for a center forward who can offer real support to the offensive department. Already in the previous session, the English club considered him a more affordable option than names such as Gyökeres or other top strikers.

He arrived at Napoli as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku, but after the Belgian’s serious injury, the Piedmontese had to deal with the arrival of Rasmus Højlund. The Dane, formerly of Atalanta, immediately rose in Antonio Conte’s preferences, leaving Lucca in the background.
