According to Italians, the most representative face of the country in 2025 is Jannik Sinner. This is revealed in the latest poll conducted by the YouTrend research institute for Sky TG24: among national personalities, the Wimbledon champion holds the record. The South Tyrolean tennis player collects 36 percent of the preferences, preceding Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, stopped at 25 percent, and President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, indicated by 12 percent of respondents. More distant are the other figures: CERN director Fabiola Gianotti gets 4 percent, singer Lucio Corsi 3 percent. Between 1 percent and 2 percent, on the other hand, are fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli, Napoli coach Antonio Conte, journalist Cecilia Sala, actor Luca Marinelli and model Bianca Balti.

It is striking that a sportsman manages to surpass, in public perception, the highest offices of state and important members of Italian culture. A fact that confirms the extent to which Sinner’s exploits (the first Italian to triumph in singles on the lawns of the English capital) have deeply affected public opinion. What won the Italians over was not only the victories, but also the style, elegance and dedication shown on the court. Despite the Clostebol affair, Sinner managed to strengthen his public image, cementing himself as a national symbol of 2025.

Luciano Darderi in the columns of Gazzetta dello Sport, meanwhile, recounted his preparation in Dubai ahead of the upcoming season. The Italian tennis player has been living in the UAE for more than a year and will stay there to train until early January, when he will move to Auckland for the first tournament of the season. In Dubai he crossed rackets with world number two Jannik Sinner, who is also preparing for the Australian Open 2026, his first major goal of the season. “He’s a guy of few words and a lot of substance. Just training and hard work. The last time was during Roland Garros. Compared to the level of the matches I played in India, it&#8221s a whole different thing: ball heaviness and continuity in dribbling make the difference”.

Darderi made a particular comparison: “I felt like on a spaceship that left Earth and landed on Mars. Yes, Jannik is a Martian.” The Azure also posted a photo with Sinner and their respective staffs on the court: there are also Vagnozzi and Cahill”.

“These are tests that I need so much to understand what I need to move up the ladder,” Darderi continued. “In the last year I have entered the top 30 in the world, the goal for 2026 is to enter the top 20. It is not an obsession, but a definite direction”.
