Cesena rears its head again, Pescara increasingly down

In the advance of the twenty-third day of Serie B, Cesena defeated Pescara 2-0, thus grasping its first home success of 2026 and interrupting, at the same time, the series of two defeats that had made the Romagnoli slip out of the top four positions. The Abruzzesi, on the other hand, continue their negative moment: that of the Manuzzi is in fact the sixth match without victories, a roster that prevents the team coached by Giorgio Gorgone from breaking out of the last place.

Cesena’s success came thanks to one goal per half: on 25′ it was Tommaso Berti who signed the lead, seizing the opportunity created by Cristian Shpendi, who in turn was good at taking advantage of a mistake in the setting phase by Brugman. For the double, however, we have to wait until 77′: another recovery of the ball by Cesena, Riccardo Ciervo serves Matteo Francesconi whose shot from the edge of the area finds the deflection of an opponent and makes the ball impassable for Sebastiano Desplanches. In the finale, a missed penalty by Shpendi in the 89th minute is irrelevant.

Thanks to the three points won, therefore, Cesena is at least for one night alone in fifth place, with 37 points.

Palermo’s fourth place is four points away, while the top three positions are occupied by Venezia with 47 points, Frosinone with 46 and Monza with 44. Behind Cesena are Modena and Juve Stabia with 34 points, Catanzaro with 32, Carrarese with 29, Südtirol, Empoli and Avellino with 28, Padova with 25, Sampdoria with 22, Reggiana and Virtus Entella with 21, Spezia, Mantova and Bari with 20, and Pescara with 15.

The weekend round will see Carrarese-Südtirol at 3 p.m. Saturday, Catanzaro-Reggiana, Frosinone-Venezia, Juve Stabia-Padova, Mantova-Bari and Modena-Sampdoria, while Palermo-Empoli will be played at 5:15 p.m. and Spezia-Virtus Entella, a match with kickoff at 7:30 p.m., will close Saturday&#8217s schedule.

On Sunday the round will conclude with the match between Monza and Avellino, scheduled at 3 p.m. at the U-Power Stadium. The next day will be the midweek that will see the twenty teams of the cadet league engaged between Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, Feb. 11, with matches all scheduled in the evening hours.
