Coppa Italia: the final will be Milan-Tortona

Olimpia Milano-Bertram Derthona is the final of the Italian basketball cup: after Poeta’s team won against Germani Brescia, in the evening Tortona beat Virtus Bologna 84-78, gaining access for the final act on Sunday.

A 23-point Morgan was not enough for the Black Vu’s, who missed qualifying for the finals for the third consecutive year. Best for Derthona were Hubb with 20 points and Gorham on 18.

These are the words of coach Dusko Ivanovic after Virtus’ defeat: “Congratulations to Tortona. We started badly and finished worse. It’s been a bad ending. And at the moment when we took the lead we did not defend well, that was the key”.

“Our defense was not up to par, there’was little pressure on the ball and we allowed 17 offensive rebounds. At the beginning of the season we played good defense, and we always found easy points in transition, and instead today this was not there”.
