The speculation about a possible forfeit by Jannik Sinner at the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome in order to be 100 percent at Roland Garros has sparked fans and insiders alike. The Azzurro has played 22 matches in the last 55 days, coming in at the bottom in all the tournaments played, and confessed to feeling some fatigue.

Former tennis player and Sky commentator Paolo Bertolucci, however, was drastic: “But where did that handful of allologists who, without having spoken to Sinner or someone from his team, spread the rumor that the No. 1 of the world would probably skip Rome?” wrote on X the former Light Blue, who also responded to some fans who keep wishing he would skip Rome.

“It’s obvious he’s skipping it for you! Fortunately he is the one who decides. Zverev has the same schedule plus he played Munich,”

“To recap: you would be better than the world No. 1 in terms of scheduling. That’s good to know.”

The concept was reiterated by Bertolucci in a later post: “I would like to inform tennis capiscers that @janniksin current world no. 1 is absolutely capable of scheduling without the need to have to follow your enlightened but useless advice.”

Sinner will communicate after the Madrid final against Alexander Zverev his intentions. Coach Vagnozzi is confident: “We are where we want to be, Jannik is fine. He has recovered from some fatigue and is getting better every day. Of course he missed the favorite (Alcaraz ed.) and there is that extra bit of pressure.”
