Serie A allergic to goals: even between Bologna and Cagliari ends without a goal

After the 0-0 recorded on Saturday in Como-Napoli and Atalanta-Genoa, the Serie A day records the third consecutive 0-0, this time at the end of the match between Bologna and Cagliari that opened the Sunday program of the top series. The scoreline changes very little the balance of the standings: the Felsinei remain far from seventh place, which in case of Inter’s victory in the Coppa Italia would be worth the qualification to the Conference League, while the islanders remain relatively quiet in the salvation zone, despite not yet having arithmetic in their favor.
Played under a scorching sun, so much so that it was decided to stop the game for the cooling break in both the first and second half, the match between Bologna and Cagliari never finds interesting rhythms. The first fraction, by the way, is rather notable for the injury of Deiola, forced at 42′ to leave the field to teammate Sulemana. A minute later Freuler has at his feet the only chance of any significance for Bologna, but Yerry Mina stands between the Swiss’s conclusion and the goal, avoiding any danger.
In the second half Bologna, which meanwhile replaces Sohm at halftime to bring on Rowe and, further forward, Odgaard and Dominguez leaving the field to Castro and Orsolini, grows in ball possession but in fact never really scares Caprile. The first, real scoring chance even comes in the 80th minute but it’s for Cagliari: after an uncertain clearance by Pessina, the ball reaches Zé Pedro who finds himself alone in front of the home goalkeeper, but the Portuguese kicks awkwardly and sends it out.
In fact, it’s the only real emotion of a ‘lunch match’ that is anything but vibrant. Not even the other substitutions made (for Bologna Ferguson and Zortea in place of Bernardeschi and De Silvestri, for Cagliari Mendy and Zappa in place of Sebastiano Esposito and Adopo) change the course of events: at the “Dall’Ara” it ends in white nets.
