Stop due to rain: the Internazionali d’Italia semifinal between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev was halted due to bad weather. The water drops came at 4-2 for Sinner in the third set, with Medvedev serving and one point away from 4-3. The first set was won by Sinner 6-2, the second by Medvedev 7-5. It remains to be seen whether the match will resume or will be ended on Saturday: the forecast at the moment is not good.

Superb match approach for Jannik Sinner: in fact, the South Tyrolean champion immediately broke the Russian player in the first game, at the end of several prolonged exchanges. Then he retorted in the third game, again breaking serve from the Muscovite. On his serve turns he was excellent, closing the first two games to zero. Medvedev managed to enter the match after only twenty minutes, winning the first game on serve, but Sinner on serve was relentless with the first and closed the set 6-2 making the audience of the Central court at the Foro Italico rejoice.

In the second set the opposite happened at the beginning: it was the Russian who started very strong, while the Italian tennis player suffered a first physical drop. Medvedev grew on serve and broke the world number one in the second game, definitely raising the level of his tennis. The Azzurro, who appeared very tired and in pain, managed to hold serve after an endless fourth game in which he cancelled three break points to the Muscovite, and in the next game he broke Medvedev, putting the result back in balance after the false start in the second partial. Sinner, always in pain on serve, saved two set points in the 11th game, but then succumbed in the third, allowing Medvedev to take the set 7-5.

Third set: as Mama Siglinde left the Central, overstretched, Jannik Sinner found himself by getting a crucial break in the third game, also taking advantage of the Russian’s errors. In the fifth game Medvedev nullified a break point, then Sinner called for the intervention of the on-court physiotherapist for a thigh problem: nothing serious.

On 4-2 for Sinner, Medvedev’s advantage came the rain stop.
