Reggio Emilia’s moves have an impact on Sassari and Naples

D’m’trīs Priftīs continues to work to retain Stephen Brown, while saying goodbye to Michele Vitali, who is close to returning to Sassari, a team that wants to stay in A2 for as short a time as possible. Negotiations are nearing completion between the 1991-born forward and Dinamo, where he already played during the 2019-2020 season, and where he will join his brother Luca, the Sardinian team’s head coach. The red-and-white club is closely monitoring Estonian forward Kaspar Treier, who is leaving Napoli as the team overhauls its roster under head coach Jasmin Repesa.

Vitali, who will turn 35 on October 31, is under contract with Reggio Emilia for another year at a substantial salary: his potential departure would allow the red-and-white club to free up valuable resources to reinvest in the transfer market. For the player, however, it would mark a particularly significant return to Sardinia, considering that he won the Italian Super Cup with Dinamo in 2019. Making the move even more appealing—in addition to his brother Luca’s presence on the bench—is the possibility of securing a two-year contract that would provide financial stability at this advanced stage of his career.

Dinamo Sassari, for its part, is carefully building the roster entrusted to coach Luca Vitali, who is making his head coaching debut after serving on the Vanoli Cremona staff. The Sardinian club has already officially announced the signing of American big man Bryce Nze, born in 1998 and holding a Nigerian passport, who brings with him experience gained in Spain, Bulgaria, and France, where he earned promotion to the top division with Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Sports director Paolo Citrini has described him as a perfect fit alongside the other big men on the roster.

Also with an eye toward rounding out the backcourt, Dinamo had also explored the possibility of signing Andrea De Nicolao, a point guard born in 1991 who is coming off a season with Cantù, where he averaged 4.2 points and 3.7 assists in about 17 minutes of playing time. The veteran from Camposampiero, over the course of his long career, has played for teams including Venezia, Reggio Emilia, and Varese, adding a Scudetto, an Italian Cup, and a Europe Cup to his list of achievements. Pesaro, however, came out on top in the race to sign him.
