2026-2027 Serie A2 Basketball: All Qualified Teams and the League Format

Following official ratification by the Italian Basketball Federation, the roster for the 2026-2027 Serie A2 season has been finalized: There will be twenty participating teams, sixteen of which were carried over from last year, joined by Dinamo Sassari—relegated from Serie A—and the three teams promoted from Serie B Nazionale: JuveCaserta, Montecatini, and Vigevano.

Under the league format, the team finishing first in the regular season will advance directly to Serie A for the 2027–2028 season, while the teams ranked second through thirteenth will compete for promotion in the playoffs (in a best-of-five series) will be the teams ranked second through thirteenth, with six teams (second through seventh) advancing directly to the quarterfinals and another six (eighth through thirteenth) competing in single-game play-ins to determine the final two participants in the final phase. The teams finishing in 14th and 15th place, however, will be automatically safe.

At the bottom of the standings, the 20th-place team will be directly relegated to B Nazionale, while the teams ranked 16th through 19th will compete in a best-of-five playout series: the winners of the two semifinals will immediately secure their spots, while the two losers will face off for the last spot in another best-of-five series, with the losing team forced to leave Serie A2.
