Rashawn Thomas’s Fourth Adventure in the Far East

Rashawn Thomas is starting over in South Korea: the former captain of Dinamo Sassari has signed a new contract with the Anyang Red Boosters, a team competing in the South Korean league. The club announced the signing of the player, born in 1994, who had returned to Sardinia in early 2025 to once again don the blue-and-white jersey. After being named captain, he endured a difficult season, which culminated in Dinamo’s relegation to Serie A2.

The Texas-born big man, hampered by physical issues, had a second stint in Sardinia that fell well short of expectations—a far cry from the 2018–2019 season, when he was one of the driving forces behind Sassari’s triumph in the FIBA Europe Cup. Thomas is thus starting anew in the Far East: this is his fourth stint there, following previous stints in Korea (Ulsan), Japan (Sendai), and China (Gunjian Xunxing), which came after his two-year stint with Partizan Belgrade from 2019 to 2021.

“The Goyang JeongKwanJang Red Boosters announce Rashawn Thomas! Thomas is known for his energetic, aggressive, and tireless playing style, capable of bringing great intensity to the team,” reads the statement from the Korean club. “He began his professional career in 2017 and has played in Italy, Serbia, Japan, and other countries. During the 2021–2022 season, he also played in the KBL, where he appeared in 43 games, averaging 16.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.”
