There are many potential paths that could open up for the center forward, who is one of the few certainties on the Italian national team but is coming off an extremely difficult season. However, his new coach at Fiorentina, Fabio Grosso, has spoken candidly about Kean’s future. He has sent clear messages to the clubs interested in his star player, starting with Como in Serie A.
“I see Kean as very calm,” Grosso said after Wednesday’s friendly match, in which his Fiorentina defeated Gubbio 1-0. “I first met him when he was just a kid; now I have the pleasure of seeing him again as an established player and a fully-fledged man. There are transfer rumors, partly because we’re talking about an exceptionally talented player. But we take the field solely to improve. If he stays with us, I’d be happy; if he were to leave, we’d wish him the best of luck.”
Como, which finished fourth in last season’s Serie A and will compete in the Champions League next season, is the most concrete—and unexpected—contender. According to reports from ‘Sky Sport,’ the Como-based club has already initiated preliminary talks with the player’s agents to gauge the feasibility of the deal. Cesc Fàbregas, who is building an ambitious and talent-rich roster—with the already completed returns and arrivals of Nico Paz, Milla, Cuenca, Kaiki, and Liberali—sees Kean as the ideal fit to add physicality, depth, and offensive options to his attacking unit.
It’s not just Como, though. As early as mid-June, Fiorentina’s sporting director Fabio Paratici had fueled speculation with remarks that were anything but definitive: “Kean is an asset to Fiorentina just as he is to Italian soccer, and everyone knows how fond I am of him.
