Ferrari: Charles Leclerc’s bitter outburst over the radio goes viral; fans go wild

The Hungarian weekend was certainly not an easy one for Ferrari, even though Friday’s results had suggested something quite different. The race for the Scuderia, led by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, was rather unremarkable and ended with the Monegasque driver in fourth place—but well out of the podium fight—and the Briton in fifth after yet another penalty in what has been a truly unusual period.

As if that weren’t enough, controversy surrounding the Prancing Horse’s performance is spreading rapidly on social media, partly due to Charles Leclerc’s bitter outburst over the radio to his track engineer, Bryan Bozzi. “Could you give me some more advice? Something’s definitely not right with the car,” Leclerc said, actually using a more colorful expression in English. Bozzi replied, “It looks like there’s some overheating; you can get back to your pace—that should help,” only to be met with a curt response: “What pace?”

In a race with few thrills on the track—won by Lando Norris’s McLaren—fans flocked to social media in search of more talking points, and Leclerc’s words hit the mark, encapsulating a shared frustration among Ferrari fans, who had expected much more but instead saw both cars not only trailing Antonelli but also Norris and Max Verstappen.

There will now be a month until the next race, which will take place at Zandvoort in late August: with McLaren proving as competitive as last year and Max Verstappen always a threat—not to mention the “usual” Mercedes—Ferrari will have to analyze every detail to avoid losing ground in a second half of the season that promises to be more exciting, but also more complex, than the first.
