Jannik Sinner: The grass-court season isn’t over… but this time, tennis has nothing to do with it

After his second consecutive triumph at Wimbledon and a few days of complete rest, Jannik Sinner has reappeared on a grass court… but not a tennis court. The world No. 1, breaking his social media silence of the past few days, posted a short Instagram story showing him on a golf course with a powerful, clean swing, without giving any clue as to his location.
It’s a discreet way to make a comeback after the controversy surrounding his withdrawal from the Montreal Masters 1000—a decision Sinner made to preserve his physical and mental balance, which had been severely tested by a grueling season, choosing instead the path of silence and serenity. In recent weeks, the Italian has spent time with his family and his girlfriend, Laila Hasanovic, with whom he also enjoyed a few relaxing days under the Sardinian sun.
In this context, golf becomes almost a symbol: a different activity, far from the pressure of the tour, useful for unwinding before returning to competition. After all, the countdown has already begun: the U.S. Open kicks off on August 31, and Sinner will arrive in New York with sky-high ambitions.
At Flushing Meadows, the Italian has already made his mark: in 2024, he won the title by defeating Taylor Fritz in the final, and in 2025, he reached another final, though he lost to Carlos Alcaraz. These past few days, therefore, mark his final break before returning to his competitive routine: a necessary break—one he chose and stood by—to ensure he’s in top form for the tournament that could cap off another summer as a star performer.
