A young player with a big name joins the new Leonessa Brescia

The new Leonessa Brescia, which will begin the season in Serie B Nazionale this year, welcomes a new player with a notable last name: Francesco Frosini, a young power forward from the Scaligera Verona youth academy, who officially joins the roster under coach Marco Calvani. The young basketball player is the son of Alessandro Frosini, a former basketball player who was a two-time Italian champion with Virtus Bologna and a silver medalist with the national team at the 1997 European Championships, and who is now the sports director of Reyer Venezia.

“Francesco Frosini is a young talent who carries a distinguished surname,” said Leonessa Brescia President Graziella Bragaglio. “In Brescia, he’ll have the chance to demonstrate his full potential, and we’re confident he’ll continue to grow under Coach Calvani’s guidance.”

Born in Turin on April 22, 2007, Francesco Frosini has followed a steady path through Verona’s youth system, alongside his twin brother Massimo. After his first seasons with the Under-15 and Under-17 Eccellenza teams, he also established himself on the Under-19 squad, where he finished his most recent season with 26 games played and a 9.9-point average, reaching a season high of 22 points against Vanoli Cremona. In recent months, he has been called up to the first team of Tezenis Verona, which played a key role in the club’s promotion to Serie A.

Frosini’s talent has not gone unnoticed by national team scouts either: he has been called up to the Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, and Under-18 teams, as well as appearances in international tournaments such as the one in Utebo (June 2024), where he shone with 16 points against Canada. In 2025, he also answered the call from Marco Sodini, head coach of the Under-18 team, for training camps in Montegrotto Terme, Rome, and Lasko, in preparation for the European Championships in that age group.
