Juventus Transfer Market: The Favorite for Goalkeeper Is No Longer Dibu, but an Italian

Juventus is ready to shift its focus to the goalkeeper position. The front office’s goal is to finalize the signing of a new goalkeeper within a few days, so as to provide Luciano Spalletti with a new starting goalkeeper as early as next week. Meanwhile, the possibility of signing Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez is looking increasingly unlikely. After monitoring the situation for some time, Juventus has now concluded that neither Aston Villa nor the Argentine goalkeeper seems willing to seriously engage in negotiations.

This leaves two candidates in the running: Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham and Zion Suzuki of Parma. In addition to technical considerations, financial factors are playing a major role in the decision. Martínez’s salary, amounting to approximately 6.5 million euros per season, would represent a significant financial commitment for Juventus. Suzuki, on the other hand, despite having a market value of close to 30 million euros plus bonuses, would have a much more modest impact on the payroll, thanks to a salary of around 1.5 million per year. This is a factor that Juventus considers fundamental in its transfer planning.

Of the two candidates, Vicario currently appears to have gained the upper hand. Tottenham is, in fact, willing to let him go on loan with an option to buy set at around 15 million euros—a solution that Juventus management considers sustainable and attractive both financially and given the guarantees offered by the Italian national team goalkeeper.

The path leading to Suzuki, however, is more complex. Several Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain have expressed interest in the Japanese player, a scenario that could drive up the cost of the deal. Juventus, however, has no intention of entering a bidding war and prefers to focus on targets considered more accessible and in line with its economic strategy.
