Sébastien Ogier was involved in a terrible accident and was rushed to the hospital

Moments of sheer terror for Sébastien Ogier during the 17th special stage of the Rally of Finland. The reigning world champion lost control of his car and, along with his co-driver Julien Ingrassia, went off the road at over 150 km/h. The car rolled over several times and crashed into trees.

Rescue workers responded immediately to check on Ogier and Ingrassia and transported the two to the hospital for evaluation. Toyota Gazoo Racing later updated fans: “The crew and the team would like to thank everyone—from the medical teams to the fans—for their tremendous support and well-wishes for a speedy recovery. We are pleased to report that the results of the hospital examinations for both Seb and Julien were positive. Due to the violent impact during the accident, the crew will remain in the hospital under observation overnight.”

A few hours later, Sébastien Ogier also wanted to reassure fans: “Unfortunately, we went off the road today on SS17. Julien and I both went to the hospital for some tests and will stay here overnight as a precaution after the violent impact. But we’re both feeling fine, and that’s the most important thing.”

“This is obviously not what we had hoped for this weekend, especially after things were going so well,” he continued on X. “But the main thing is that we’re both okay, so a big thank you to the team for building such a solid car. I also have to thank Julien for taking care of me immediately after the crash and for reassuring my family that I’m okay.”

“Now we’ll get some rest and make sure we’re back in top form soon, and thank you for all the messages we’ve received. Good luck to my teammates. Bring it home, guys!” concluded Sébastien Ogier.
