Milan Transfer Market: The Rossoneri Don’t Care About the Derby Over Leao—A Surprise Solution

Not long ago, Rafa Leao openly expressed his desire to bring his time at Milan to a close and test himself in another league, convinced that he had by now given his all to the Rossoneri cause. It was a clear message, suggesting his desire to turn the page.

The transfer market, however, has told a different story. The forward’s expectations have not translated into concrete offers. Leao envisioned a future in either the Premier League or La Liga—the two leagues that appeal to him most—but so far, no English or Spanish club has decided to invest in him. The only concrete interest has come from Turkey, with Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray testing the waters without, however, coming close to Milan’s asking price.

The club based on Via Aldo Rossi continues to value its No. 10 at around 60 million euros. The offers received so far—based on loans with an option to buy and total valuations below 45 million euros—have been rejected without hesitation. Under these conditions, Milan has no intention of parting ways with the Portuguese player.

The player himself, for his part, does not seem convinced by the prospect of moving to the Süper Lig. Even in the face of very lucrative offers, Leao’s priority remains to test himself in one of Europe’s top leagues—an opportunity that, at least for now, has not materialized.

For this reason, the possibility of him remaining at Milanello through the 2026–27 season is gaining ground. A scenario that seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago has now become significantly more realistic.
