Bologna Transfer Market: Move for Former Bayern, United, and Dortmund Player

Bologna is also starting to make moves in the midfield, and in the last few hours, the name of a player with extensive international experience has emerged: Marcel Sabitzer. At the moment, there are no formal negotiations, but the parties are said to have made initial exploratory contacts to assess the feasibility of the deal.

However, the Rossoblù management’s priority remains elsewhere. First, they must finalize the sale of Jhon Lucumí, which is expected to bring in new financial resources, and only then can the club focus on the final signings to complete the roster.

Among the players being monitored is the Borussia Dortmund midfielder. The Austrian, born in 1994, is under contract with the German club through 2027, but the failure to renew his contract could pave the way for a departure as early as this transfer window. His representatives are also said to have sounded out Bologna’s interest, placing the Rossoblù among his possible destinations.

The deal, however, faces significant obstacles. The main one concerns his salary: Sabitzer earns approximately 4 million euros net per season, a figure well above the salary parameters set by the Emilia-based club. The transfer fee, on the other hand, might be more manageable, although an agreement will need to be reached with Borussia Dortmund, which retains ownership of the player.

For now, this is primarily a rumor in the transfer market, but Sabitzer’s name underscores Bologna’s desire to evaluate top-tier players to boost quality and experience in midfield.
