Jannik Sinner is still dealing with knee problems and, after being forced to skip the Masters 1000 tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati, will not be competing in the U.S. Open. On Tuesday, he returned to J Medical for further tests ahead of his return to the court, and some people on social media had fun joking about the situation.

“Jannik Sinner is Arkadiusz Milik’s new roommate at J Medical—the striker won’t feel so lonely anymore,” wrote a user on X, hoping to entertain his followers. The joke, however, backfired, and in the comments section, the user was inundated with criticism.

“You shouldn’t joke about people’s problems—that was a really terrible thing to say,” declared another user. “Making fun of other people’s health issues is absolutely disrespectful; I’d delete that post right away if I were you,” wrote another user whose profile picture is a photo of his idol, Jannik Sinner.

The world No. 1 in 2026 has won five consecutive Masters 1000 tournaments (Miami, Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome) and the Wimbledon championship for the second year in a row. At the Australian Open, he was eliminated in the semifinals by Djokovic, while at Roland Garros he was knocked out in the first round after a physical collapse during his match against Cerundolo.

“Despite all the hard work done with my team and the medical staff, we had to make the difficult decision not to participate in this year’s U.S. Open,” Sinner announced in recent days. “We’ve been back training in Monte Carlo over the past few days and realized we need more time to recover from the issue with my right knee. I’m obviously very sad and disappointed, since New York holds a special place in my heart.”
