Milan Transfer Market: The attacking midfielder has arrived, but he’s not the player the fans were expecting
Milan has sealed a deal to bolster Ruben Amorim’s attacking options. With Rafael Leao having left, the Rossoneri were exploring several options, and one in particular—a surprise to the fans—became increasingly likely as the days went by: now the deal has been finalized.
The Rossoneri have signed Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Omari Hutchinson: the Milan club’s transfer team has reached an agreement for a loan with an option to buy, which will become mandatory upon the fulfillment of certain conditions. Sky Sport reports this. With the green light from the English club, the 2003-born player will travel to Italy in the coming hours for medicals and to sign his contract.
The Jamaican-born forward, who came up through Arsenal’s youth system, moved to Chelsea in 2022 and went on loan to Ipswich the following year. In 2024, Nottingham Forest signed him for 40 million euros. Amorim likes Omari Hutchinson because he is versatile and capable of playing on both wings and behind the strikers. He won a UEFA European Under-21 Championship with the English national team in 2025.
Hutchinson wasn’t the only name on the Rossoneri management’s radar. In recent weeks, they had also scouted Jean-Mattéo Bahoya of Eintracht Frankfurt—born in 2005 and valued at around 25 million euros— and Alvyn Sanches of Young Boys, although the most intriguing names were those of Ethan Nwaneri of Arsenal and Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid. In the end, however, it was the Forest prospect’s profile that most convinced Amorim, who had identified a technical attacking midfielder capable of operating on the flanks as his top priority.
According to reports from the past few hours, Milan was also monitoring the situation of Nico Gonzalez, who is set to leave Juventus, while the name of Federico Gatti could come up in discussions between the two clubs with a view toward a possible trade. On the transfer-out front, the situation involving Youssouf Fofana remains to be resolved. The French midfielder is outside of Amorim’s plans and is being tracked by Juventus itself, which in recent hours has seen the Franck Kessié deal fall through due to disagreements over salary.
