JP Macura Leads Treviso to Victory Over Reggio Emilia

Nutribullet Treviso sent a strong message in the preseason, decisively defeating UNA Hotels Reggio Emilia 91-73 in Castelfranco Veneto. In front of about 400 spectators, Coach Nicola’s team built its lead primarily in the second half, stepping up their play after a very evenly matched first half.

Treviso got off to a strong start, pulling ahead by 8 (14-6) thanks to Russell’s drives to the basket and JP Macura’s accuracy from long range. Macura himself proved to be one of the standout players of the night, finishing the game with 23 points.

Reggio Emilia, however, fought back with Visconti and Barford, gradually closing the gap. In the second quarter, Speedy Smith temporarily shifted the momentum with two consecutive three-pointers that gave Reggio Emilia its first lead at 39-36. UNA Hotels even extended their lead to +5 (46–41), but Treviso stayed in the game and, thanks to free throws by Cappelletti and Chapman, closed the gap to 46–45 at halftime.

The game changed completely in the third quarter. Nutribullet stepped up the intensity and quality of its offensive play, scoring 25 points while allowing just 14. This run allowed the Venetians to regain control of the game and enter the final quarter leading 70-60.

Treviso never looked back. Even in the final ten minutes, Nicola’s team continued to push, preventing Reggio Emilia from getting back into the game and gradually widening the gap to a maximum lead of 19 points at 89-70. In the closing moments, Smith and former player Chillo sealed the final score at 91-73.

A convincing victory, especially given how it unfolded in the second half, with Treviso finding fluidity on offense and greater defensive solidity after halftime. In the closing minutes, there was also a family connection: Alessandro Manfredotti took the court for Nutribullet and crossed paths with his cousin Luca, who plays for Reggio Emilia. Alessandro arrived in Treviso this season after coming up through Reggio Emilia’s youth system.
