Juventus Transfer Market: Zhegrova’s Two Goals Cause a Stir
Luciano Spalletti decided to leave Edon Zhegrova off Juventus’ roster for the upcoming Europa League. The Kosovar responded to that decision on the field, scoring two goals in the away match against Sassuolo. While this choice was predictable in some ways, it was by no means an easy one for the Tuscan coach, especially given the promising performances the player delivered during the summer friendlies.
His exclusion from the European competition could also have consequences for Zhegrova’s future, as he is inevitably disappointed by the situation. Juventus, for its part, might remain open to considering any offers from countries where the transfer window is still open: we’ll see if the Balkan player’s incredible impact in the match played in Emilia will change his fate.
The winger’s time with Juventus has been marred by physical problems from the very beginning. Having arrived from Lille in the summer of 2025, the 1999-born player made only 19 Serie A appearances last season, failing to score. These numbers are significantly lower than those he posted in France, where he scored 26 goals during his three and a half years with Lille.
His consistency was primarily hampered by groin injuries, which required two surgeries and significantly impacted his performance. His physical condition is also a factor that clubs interested in signing him should take into consideration.
In recent weeks, Lazio was among the teams that had expressed concrete interest in Zhegrova. Sporting director Fabiani had confirmed the contacts, and the Biancocelesti had evaluated the possibility of a loan without an obligation to buy, considering the player’s salary—approximately 2.5 million euros—to be sustainable.
The deal, however, did not move forward. In addition to financial considerations, the Kosovar winger’s previous physical issues were a key factor in dampening Lazio’s interest.
