Tragic motorcycle accident: 29-year-old soccer player killed, teammate injured

Tragedy in the world of Indian soccer. Rijohn Jose, a player for Calicut FC, died at the age of 29 following a traffic accident that occurred on Sunday evening in Kozhikode, a city in southern India historically known as Calicut.

Jose was riding a motorcycle with his teammate Gani Ahmed Nigam when, for reasons yet to be determined, the two collided with another motorcycle. The crash occurred overnight and had extremely serious consequences. Both players were rushed to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. For Rijohn Jose, however, there was nothing that could be done: he died in the early hours of Monday.

Nigam, who also plays for Gokulam Kerala FC, was seriously injured and remains hospitalized, where he is receiving the necessary treatment. The news has shaken Calicut FC, which honored its player with a message of condolence. Jose had recently been introduced as the club’s newest player and had shared some photos with his teammates on social media.

The club has rallied around the 29-year-old’s family and his injured teammate, while investigations into the exact circumstances of the accident continue.
