Francesco Totti Is Ready to Make Peace with Spalletti, but on One Condition

In an excerpt from his book *Oltre*, published by *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, Francesco Totti spoke again about his relationship with Luciano Spalletti: “We’ve begun a strong process of reconciliation. When we tell each other the whole truth—nothing but the truth—I’ll put it behind me once and for all. We’ll be able to go back to being who we were before.”

“The ideal conditions for peace between me and Luciano Spalletti are taking shape, day by day. Let’s just say we’ve embarked on a path beyond the silence that existed. I won’t repeat here where our rift came from—even the Martians know that.”

The reconciliation began with a commercial. “The back-and-forth lasted a month. I wasn’t entirely convinced, but in the end I gave in. We each had our own RV to change clothes and put on makeup. I got out of mine and headed toward Spalletti’s. I knocked. ‘Open up—are you afraid?’ He came down, we hugged—it was a bit more genuine than the one at the Bambino Gesù.”

“We worked together for two days; it helped. We loosened up, we smiled—those spontaneous, unforced smiles. I had fun. I have to say I came away feeling more at peace,” Totti concluded. “In the summer of 2026, we filmed a second one—for three days at Spalletti’s estate in Tuscany. One evening, we found ourselves at the table with some other people. I spoke up, addressing everyone: ‘As a coach, he was one of the best, but he didn’t treat me very well…’ ‘No, Francesco, it’s all your fault—you’re the one who wanted to hurt me and kicked me out of Roma.’ ‘What are you talking about, Coach? You did it all on your own.’ We didn’t resolve it there either, but the atmosphere was definitely friendlier. With each commercial, we’re clearing away the bad blood.”
