Guido Bagatta is blunt about the LBA: “Basketball has disappeared”

Guido Bagatta, speaking on the “Tutti Convocati” show on Radio 24, openly criticized the LBA for its lack of television coverage and the difficulties in reaching a wide audience: “This is my big battle.”

“Basketball has disappeared from the mainstream audience. It’s not broadcast on free-to-air TV,” said the journalist and host. “It’s on Cielo once a month, a world away from the channels that matter—like Sky. We keep pushing LBA TV, but the first year wasn’t exactly the Oscars. And the general public isn’t tuning in. Everyone who follows it keeps doing so, but no one new is getting into it.”

Bagatta also shared his initial thoughts on Olimpia Milano and this season’s roster following the Super Cup victory: “Milano has put together a solid team. Poeta is the right man in the right place, even if he’s joined the club of the incomprehensible. I heard the interview earlier: during the preseason, there were ups and downs, moments of switching off… If we keep talking like this, we won’t win over the audience. They need to make themselves a little clearer.”

“That said: a very good team, with a center like Wright who’ll be a real challenge for everyone. If he stays healthy—we all hope so, and they’re hoping for the same for the EuroLeague. He’s shown some really impressive things.”
