Icardi Fights Back After His Driver’s License Was Suspended Until 2099

A video posted on social media by China Suarez is getting Mauro Icardi into trouble. In the clip, the Argentine forward appears to be driving a car while his partner rides alongside him. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, but the problem is that the former Inter Milan player’s driver’s license has expired.

This led to the issuance of a preventive driving suspension. To obtain a new license, the soccer player will have to undergo a mandatory evaluation to verify his fitness to drive. “We found that Icardi’s driver’s license had expired. For this reason, we have ordered his preventive suspension,” reads the statement released by the ministry. The document adds that “the player will have to undergo an evaluation to determine his fitness to drive. Road safety allows for no exceptions.”

What is particularly striking is the duration specified in the order: the suspension is set to last until January 1, 2099, when Icardi would be 105 years old. The striker reacted on social media by challenging the Argentine authorities’ decision and questioning the ministry’s account of events.

“Hi, good morning. I wanted to know how you managed to suspend my Italian driver’s license, which is valid until 2029,” Icardi wrote, explaining that he does not hold an Argentine driver’s license because, according to him, “you have to turn it in when you convert it to a European one.”-

Then came a direct attack on the Ministry of Transportation: “Focus on fixing the roads to improve traffic in our country instead of wasting time writing tweets.” Finally, Icardi also questioned the nature of the measure: “What kind of suspension are you trying to come up with? It seems strange that you’re coming down so hard on me just to get some media attention.”
